Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger believes that the prolongation of the conflict in Ukraine threatens to escalate and it needs to be completed through negotiations. He expressed this opinion in a podcast by CNN correspondent David Axelrod, released on Friday.

« It (the conflict) must end with negotiations. I would assume that Russia will remain as a state at the end, and Ukraine will also remain a state, and the situation will radically change, because Ukraine was armed by NATO, it was closely connected with NATO, and certain relations with NATO will remain, » he said. – I think that Ukraine’s proposals to join NATO were a mistake, but this is already in the past, taking into account what happened.

So there should be negotiations, and I would warn against prolonging the war indefinitely.

Because then it will look more and more like the First World War, there will probably be an escalation.

So I hope that soon the NATO countries will agree with each other on what the conclusion should be, what results the negotiations can come to.
